Yesterday I showed some of my favorite bathing suit sale finds for my kids. They suddenly all grew in the past month and were in need of new suits, especially Jules and Jacks. I was excited to find so many good sales at some of my favorite stores. I was on the hunt for cute rash guards for all three of the kids and needed some cute and easy sandals. sharing my finds below.

My go to store is Cotton On kids, especially for Jacks. Im pretty picky when it comes to him and love neutrals. I know I can always find that here.  It can get price but you can't beat their sales.  I love that they have such a huge range in sizes which means I always find matching outfits. They have the cutest, hip, fashionable prints and clothing styles and always carry rash guards during the summer. They are also my go to for their inexpensive sandals. One of my favorite summer pieces I got from them a few years ago was their pull on hooded towel. They come in handy on pool and beach days. I grabbed them each one of those too. 

I got the girls a 5 & 7 and Jacks a 4. I would say they run pretty true to size.

I don't typically shop here for clothing but always look here for accessories. They always have cute hair accessories and most of the girls purses are from here. They also always have cute rash guard suits.

 For the longest time I had no clue that they even carried anything other than shoes. If I can't find something or find something I love and want to find it at a cheaper price I look here. There was this daisy suit that I loved from J.Crew that was sold out and I found it here! Also found the brand Tiny Tribe that I love for Jacks. I love the look of all their pieces and are totally our style.

mommy and me tie dye shirts

Such a fun project to do with kids of all ages, especially during this crazy, covid time. I'll be honest, I went into the project not knowing exactly what to do, and did my own thing along the way, so I promise it's super easy. I hopped on Pinterest and found a few different techniques and ended up going the ice route. A few people said they liked this way because the colors weren't as bright and more of a pastel. This is exactly what I wanted. Here's what worked for us. 

what you need:

We used this kit but ended up using mainly the pink, purple and orange. If you know you are going for those similar colors you could just buy the specific colors you need. To give you an idea of how far they go, the pink bottle was enough for three shirts using the ice method. 

1. Use a 100% cotton shirt. We used long sleeves. I got this tee for the girls, xs for Kourt and s for Jules. They were both a little big, especially on Kourt but still worked great. I got this tee for myself and it was true to size. It's mens and I could have gone with a medium but went with the large for a looser fit. 

2. Decide on what pattern you want to do and lay your shirts on a pan. I found so many different ideas online by searching tie dye patterns. I wanted something different and was afraid I'd mess up any sort of pattern so I went the messy route for mine and Jules'. I ended up just laying ours flat onto a pan and scrunching in different places. Kourt wanted a rainbow look so I tied hers with rubber bands, spacing them out equally.

** I did not wash or wet the shirts before applying the dye.**

3. Cover your shirts with ice. I would have used more but we ran out.

4. Apply dye. Do not add water to your dye. You are going to sprinkle the dye powder directly onto the ice. Remember, a little powder goes a long way. After you add the dye spray/pour water to the tops. This part is going to look horrible. After we added our water and I saw all the colors sort of blend and turn into a totally different color.  Especially on the rainbow one, all the water on the bottom of the pan turned brown. I was so sure they were ruined.

5. Most articles said to let them soak for 24 hours+. This was my first time doing this and I was afraid leaving them that long would make them super saturated and that's not what I wanted. I got impatient and ended up letting them soak for only 16 hours. I was so shocked and surprised at how pretty the patterns and color turned out. 

6. Rinse. Wash. Dry . I rinsed them in the bath tub with cold water. It's important to keep rinsing until there is no more color coming from your shirts. I then washed them one at a time in hot water then threw them in the dryer in regular heat.

Super easy! Kinda did my own thing along they way but it worked and we loved them so much! We did make a boy versos for Jacks but didn't photograph it along the way. I used a white shirt and used the black color on it. We plan on making matching sweatshirts and adding some fun patches to them. If you make your own, be sure to tag me on instagram, @alittlejandk. Easter Basket roundup

My girls are all about pink, unicorns, glitter, and super into drawing. I started my Easter shopping, where I start every year, the bathing suits. I loved the two suits I got my girls so much. They are both so into the dye right now and anything pink will always be a winner in their eyes. With everything that is going on in the world right now I kinda over shopped. The guilt of not getting to spend Easter with our very large families got me and I tried to get as many fun toys and activities as I could. I also shopped at stores that guaranteed early shipping. My biggest fear was having shipping stop in a few weeks and not having any Easter goodies for the kids. Most of it is from Amazon and will be getting here in three days. yay! I had the hardest time finding LOL dolls that would get there by easter but ended up getting some from Walmart. I normally don't do the cutesy baskets and tend to get something that I can reuse somewhere in my house but again, that guilt got me, so I threw that right out the window when I saw these coordinating bunnies. I need all the fun, cute, colorful things that my kids will get super excited about and I think they're going to love these! They are big into coloring and drawing right now and we need all the fun ideas to do outside so when I stumbled upon those unicorn kites I had to have them. I also had to have those roll on, scented lip glosses! Who else remembers having those as kids?

 

Jacks is so easy too! typical boy and SUPER into jets, drawing Mickey Mouse heads, space, and anything that flies. I have such a hard time finding boy swim trunks that I love and was so excited when I stumbled upon these. I ended up getting him two prints since they were buy one get one 50% off. Got him all the cute Jet things like that remote control Jett from one of his favorite shows, Super Wings. He is going to go crazy over that jet kite. He is always fighting with his sisters over their binoculars so I'm super excited to give him his very own pair. My favorite thing is probably that drawing book/pad. It has magnets, a dry erase board and is perfect for on the go. It's going to be so perfect since he is always carrying around his paper and marker everywhere.
