friday favorites // target edition

It's no secret that my girls and I love Target. We are there at least once, sometimes three times a week. My girls look forward to getting out of the house for our coffee and chocolate milk dates. Jules likes to walk around and helps me pick out all the "cute" stuff, like shopkins and my little ponies, and those dreaded character tees. Here's a super quick round up of my current Friday favorites, target edition.

My whole house is pretty much all Nate Berkus. I mean, I'm pretty sure I'm hands down his number one fan. I have a couple of pieces from every single collection he's had at target and this new rug of his is #1 on my "need" list right now. He is the reason I am always rearranging my home.

Speaking of homes, I just bought this door mat. I like to change out my door mat for every season/holiday. This one is perfect because it's pretty neutral and can be used all year round.

Holidays, they're my favorite and I like to take way too many pictures of my girls under these super fun balloons target has been carrying lately. We did the christmas version, new years, valentines day and now using this for the 4th!

I have toys all around the house, Its inevitable with two babes. So I like having baskets in every single roomto throw toys, books and blankets in, they help us stay as tidy as possible. These wire baskets currently hold my throw blankets in the living room and books in the girls room.

I just discovered these to-go-cups by designlovefest for cheeky and I'm obsessed! Totally my style and perfect for my morning coffee, because washing coffee cups is so overrated sometimes, right?

headband organization

If you have been following me on Instagram, then you know I have been making headbands for the past 3 years over at alittlejandk. Im headband, bow, flower crown, turban obsessed mommy. I'm sure all you girl moms can relate. It all started when I found out I was having Julianne. I never realized that they were so much fun, they've got all the cute dresses, shoes, and all things sparkly. I was hooked, so I started making my own sparkly goodies and supported other mommy handmade shops along the way. I bought and made and bought and made and before I knew it her bow collection grew out of control.

One of the questions I get asked most is "How do you organize your girls' headbands"? The truth is, Im a little ocd when it comes to organizing, I just love it! I find that organizing their headbands is extremely helpful when it comes to coordinating outfits! I personally like to organize them by style. I have all the thin headbands in one place, turbans in another, and so on. I also like to have them displayed around their room, I mean you're paying all this money for adorable bows, might as well display all those beauties!

This is handwoven tapesrty is my favorite display in their room. It's a cute way to see all of Jules' clip and piggie sets. She is always wearing these bows because of how easy it is to just grab one when we are running out the door.

I recently hacked this Ikea shelf & of course I spray painted it gold to make it more "us". I was super excited about adding this to their room because I was able to display more girly items, like their favorite books, frames of their first pictures together & of course their bows. I found the glass scalloped candy jar from target I love it so much, I ordered two more to add to their room. I have that one filled with all their thin nylon headbands. Those are the ones Koko usually wears and my favorite because both girls are able to share. On the top shelf I added a gold bowl from Ikea. I have all their Bloomies handmade flower crowns in there. Jules calls those her princess crowns. You'll see my girls wearing those a lot.

We keep all of our a little j + k turbans in their closets. I designed these Ikea closets with a glass top and a jewelry drawer purpousely for them. Koko's collection needs some work but Jules' collection is amazing and of course organizing them by color makes it so much prettier.

I wasn't kidding when I said I had a headband obsession. ha. I hope this inspires you to display all those fun, colorful, pretties instead of shoving them away into a drawer. If you love bows just as much as I do then keep an eye out on our Instagram. I am in the process of organizing a giveaway with all my favorite bow shops.

a little j+k

hello.
I'm Karissa; wife to Jason and
mommy to Julianne + Kourtney (+ our fur baby Keiko).
See a theme? Yup, we are that family, ha.

Welcome to a little j+k.

I met my husband when I was 17 at a halloween party and boy was it love at first sight! Our love grew strong quickly and I knew early on that this was the man I was going to marry. I was engaged at 21, married at 22 and we selfishly enjoyed married life alone for the next three years.

During that time I graduated from the University of La Verne with a degree in Art + Design. I left my childcare job of 7 years to pursue my love of decorating and cake design. I enjoyed working at a bakery designing and sculpting unique cakes but knew it was time to move on when we decided to start a family.

We welcomed our little baby Julianne (Jules) into our family on November 1, 2012. My life was forever changed and I instantly fell in love with my curly redhead. I enjoyed being a stay at home mom, spending every day with her and loved all that one on one time. Those years spent together, just the two of us, will always have a special place in my heart.

I have always loved being creative, it's the artist in me, so it wasn't long until the creative bug hit and so came the start of our bow shop, Baby Jules Boutique. Jules was only 4 months old when we started this fun adventure together. She was my little baby model and we had the best time sharing our love for bows with others. We were so blessed to have such an amazing following from the start and loyal customers that loved what I created. The best part was that along the way we met some amazing people through social media who have become real life friends.

We were soon expecting our second baby and hoped and prayed we would have another girl with red hair. And on September 19, 2015, we welcomed our redhead, our Koko monkey, Kourtney Jay. She was the missing piece to our family we never even knew was missing.

Here we are 8 months later and I'm enjoying every single day with my girls. I never knew my heart could love this much. Seeing my girls love each other and watching them grow as sisters is something so indescribable. I don't want to miss a single thing and have devoted my time to making these girls' days full of memories that they will never forget.

This blog and shop name change is long overdue. It's something that I have been wanting to start since I was pregnant with Kourtney, when I realized that "Baby Jules" no longer fit us. I mean, how could I leave my poor Koko out? We will continue to make bows here and there, when I get some free time. But for now I will continue to document my mommy journey; my love for design, diy, birthdays and holidays; my obsession with twinning my girls; and all my adventures with my j+k babes.
