a target princess tea party

Our elf, Strawberry, was lucky enough to work together with Target to bring my girls the most perfect little princess themed tea party! She clearly had the time of her life putting together the most magical princess Elsa and Anna themed party complete with snowflakes and the perfect princess themed party accessories.

Frozen is a big hit at our house right now and my girls seem to watch it on repeat these days, so when they woke up to this frozen themed tea party this morning they went just a little crazy! Shopping the party section at Target for this was so fun (shh, I planned the whole thing, not Strawberry she just took all the credit). I had a blast throwing in every princess thing I could find into my shopping cart, I mean who doesn't love to shop at Target. They had everything a princess loving girl could want from those light up princess wands, the pearl necklaces, the night gowns, to the perfect party decor! My girls were so excited and loved every detail.

I knew I really wanted a tea party because we have those 100 times a day over here, so I was so excited when I found this Frozen tea pot. It was a hit! A tea party wouldn't be complete without some mini pb&j sparkly sandwiches and some fun decorated milk in the cutest Anna and Elsa cups.

We cheers'd over and over, curtsied, twirled and ended our tea party with a dance party to the frozen sound track.  Having girly girls is so much fun!

a snowy day in southern california

Jules has cousins coming to visit from Colorado this holiday, so we have been counting down the days for over a month now. She woke up today and screamed "three more days"! She then went on listing all the things she is going to do with them, like go to Build-A-Bear, American Girl doll store, Chuck e Cheese, and play with the snow!? Snow? She let me know that they live where it snows and when they fly over on Friday they are " brinding all the moe"! I felt terrible having to break the news to her so I softened the blow by bribing her with getting to make our very own snow.

I made this years ago when I was teaching art, it's super easy and done with things you already have in your house. I couldn't quite remember the measurements but I ended up doing 3 cups of baking soda and 1cup of white conditioner. This made a pretty big amount, so I'm sure you could half that and totally be fine. But look at her, she was the happiest little today! She of course insisted on wearing her Elsa dress, because how could she not dress as Elsa when building a "mo man".  #momwin

a little j+k family christmas

I am so proud of myself this year! For once, my holiday cards are printed and mailed and it's still technically the first week of December. Yay me! We had these taken by my dear friend, Lauren Pollard and I'm obsessed. These family shots might just be my new favorite and cant wait to get these printed and up in my house.

I tend to get most of my photos done through Shutterfly or Tiny Prints because c o u p o n s! I ordered mine while they were on sale, plus used a coupon and got free shipping. You really can't go wrong, plus all of the prints are totally my style, I especially love the foil collections. I went with these Merry Christmas cards in rose gold and it's, love!

shared sister room

I have had quite a few people on social media ask about the girls' bedroom so here's a long o v e r due little tour. I grew up sharing a room with my younger sister and absolutely loved it so naturally, I always imagined my two girls (if I ever had them) would also share a room together. And I was so happy when we found out we were having another girl because it meant I was able to redesign the room! I am a total neutral girl; my whole house is a black, grey and white color scheme. Super simple. I wanted their room to flow with the rest of our home so I started with white and added small hints of peach, pink and gold to girly it up. I tried to keep it as fun and kid-friendly all while filling it DIY's and lots of love. This is hands down is our favorite room. We find ourselves playing in here throughout the day; we have tea parties, play dress up, draw on the chalkboard wall and cuddle up on Jules' bed to watch way too many youtube Play-Doh videos.

I was so worried about the transition and afraid Jules would hate her new room so we kept her bed in the same spot and kept her side of the room pretty much the same with her little kitchen and all her baby toys. All we did was change her pillowcases and added a few new accent pillows which she helped pick.

We DIY'd this ikea kitchen for her second christmas. Jules and Kourtney play with this almost everyday.

I wanted something a little more personalized over the crib so I made this "girls, I love you" sign. This by far is my favorite piece in the room. I also added the cloud and star mobil and a super fun tapestry which fits perfectly in the space.

I saw this shelf on Pinterest and knew that this nursery had to have it! We of course, spray painted it gold and I love the way it turned out. We have photos and headbands displayed here (see more headband storage here) and obviously color coordinated the books, because it makes my OCD heart happy. And the bottom shelf is filled with lots and lots of red headed dollies.

Another one of my favorite DIY's was their insane closet. I have these same wardrobes against a wall in my room but they have doors on them. Their room was so small that we weren't able to do the same so we took down their closet doors and stuck these in here. We designed these at Ikea. Once we took measurements and went out to buy everything we realized that we weren't going to be able to fit the doors on the wardrobes which worked out perfectly because that's when I decided I wanted those glass drawers and well, just look at them! They're amazing and I totally have closet envy over a 4 and 1 year old's closet! (I will be sharing all the details on these in an upcoming blog post.)

Jules loves to draw. Loves! So we had added this chalkboard wall behind her door when she turned one. It's evolved over the years to accommodate her different stages. We just recently added the mirror since she loves to dress up! She swears she's Ariel and twirls in front of that mirror all day long in her princess costumes and hosts lots and lots of tea parties for me and her sister.

Hope you love it as much as we do!
